ASTRONOMICAL HANGING
REGULATOR.
This clock has a fantastic
walnut case with burled trim
and high quality carving, in
excellent condition. The 14"
vitrolite reverse painted
glass dial is original and
in good condition. It is
signed "E. Howard & Co.
Boston Mass". Typical
outside chapter ring for
minutes with Arabic 5 minute
markers and a black minute
marker chapter ring, small
subsidiary hour dial with
bold black Roman hour
numerals, a subsidiary
seconds bit with 10 second
Arabic second markers and a
black second chapter ring,
each with period blued
hands. The clock has a
massive top quality brass
movement signed "E. Howard &
Co. Boston", Graham Dead
Beat Escapement, beats
seconds, Geneva stop and
blued crutch. Solid brass
pulley (#17), top quality
brass weight, compensating
"mercurial pendulum" (#157),
all in very good condition.
There appears to be a very
light overcoat over the
original finish. This clock
was recently discovered in a
private Florida home from
descendants of a Plattsburg,
N.Y. jeweler. 29"W x 79"H x
10"D.

MANTLE CLOCK.
A heavily carved case with a
beveled pediment, turned
side finials and a platform
base with hairy carved legs
and claw feet centered with
a hanging fruit cluster.
There is a rectangular
compartment for adjusting
the pendulum. Case is finely
incised and gilt decorated.
Has a 2 color marble dial
with brass Roman numerals, a
round brass movement signed
by the maker "J.B.D. -
29692", matching the bezel.
Time and strike on the half
hour on a single bell rack
and snail striking
mechanism, strikes but does
not stop properly. The
movement is also signed by
the case maker and retailer
"Herter Brothers - New
York". Movement is dirty and
needs to be adjusted. 19.5"W
x 20"H x 6"D.

AUTOMATED LOCOMOTIVE CLOCK.
A large bronze steam
locomotive in dark bronze
finish with gilt bronze
trimmings, a gold lever on
the front switches the
automated wheels on and off,
running on a large movement
within the body. In the cab
is a signed "Jappy Freres" 8
day time and bell strike
movement and a barometer on
the boiler, both of which
have silvered dials. Balance
has good brisk motion. On a
black marble platform with
gilt bronze tracks and 4
gilt bracket feet. In
excellent condition and good
working order. 18.75"W x
15.5"H x 9"D.

Standing figure of a robed
maiden, holding a bird's
nest on her left hip and her
right arm is reaching up
holding a crossbar.
Suspended from 2 chains on
the crossbar is a swinging
timepiece. The cylindrical
case has some floral etched
design on the sides and a
fancy bezel; has a straight
minute hand and a spade hour
hand, chapter ring has gilt
incised Roman numerals. Time
only movement with a jeweled
pallet "Brocot" escapement.
In good condition. 8"W x

REGULATOR.
Blued open moon hour and
minute hands and sweep
second hand with some
tarnish, 11" paper dial
signed "H.J. Hoffman
Jewelers - Loogootee,
Indiana", has some foxing;
polished brass bezel,
typical time only pinwheel
movement with pinwheel
escapement, massive heavy
gridiron pendulum and
massive pendulum bob, single
brass weight. In a cherry
Colonial style case by
Wholesale Jewelers of
America; has a high crest
with swirling filigree,
centered with an oval
medallion, the top frame has
4 carved floral mounts on
the front and one on each
side. Spindled drop skirt
with scrolled filigree and
seashell. In very good
condition.
This clock was originally
seen in the J. Meyer
Jewelers store in Loogootee,
IN. The store was later
purchased by his nephew and
in 1906 the store was sold
to Henry J. Hoffman, who had
the paper dial added, and
the clock stayed in the
family and at the business
until 1981, when his son Bob
retired. 32.5"W x 94"H x

In a mahogany Biedermeier
lantern case, inlaid with

with a single brass weight
and a polished steel
pendulum rod with a brass

pulley. Tarnished dial,
bezel, escape levers and
crutch, broken suspension
spring. In a "D" style
walnut case with an arched
pediment crest centered with
a figural lion's head; has
burled panels and scrolled
corbels. Arched heavy glass
door with a frosted Greek
key border and reverse
painted with gold leaf
letter at the bottom of the
door "Established 1892",
mirrored back. Door glass is
cracked, in original finish,
missing 3 finials on the top
and missing the base. There
is no mercury in the
pendulum jar. 33"W x 87"H x

case with beveled glass

LARGE OAK GAME CARVED
SIDEBOARD ATTR. A. ROUX.
Has an elaborate highly
carved crest with a large
deer head over a shield, the
main panel has an applied
carved hunting scene with 2
dogs chasing a wild boar in
the forest. Each side of the
crest has a turned column
with a bird feeding on a
cluster of fruit. Below is a
pair of shelves with figural
maiden carved corbels and
paneled backs. The base of
this sideboard has 2 large
doors in the center and
curved sides under drawers.
Each of the door panels is
centered with a large
carving of hanging wild game
including wild boar, deer,
ducks and fish among bugles,
ribbons and filigree; with
hanging carved fruit
clusters between each door.
The drawers have carved
pulls with various berry
clusters and leaves with
dogs heads in between. In
very good original finish.

tipped over with a dead bird
and a large pitcher on the
left side, a bale of wheat
on the right. The cover
lifts off of the main
basket, revealing the
inkwell. Mounted on a large
oval black marble base with
a scrolled penholder.
Silvered finish over bronze
with intricate detail.
Signed on the back "L.
Carvin". Good original
