FRENCH EMPIRE SWINGING LYRE MANTLE CLOCK.
The ebonized lyre case has applied gilt brass mounts with cornucopias of fruit and flowers on the arms and a large central cartouche with a robed maiden radiating with sun rays and clouds below, swirling in the wind. Here the swing pendulum movement hangs, in the base of the pendulum. Time and bell-strike movement, with a steel pallet Brocot escapement. The back plate of the movement is marked P.D. 4391, the front plate is marked C.A.F. The dial shows some light design and black numerals below some floral and filigree decoration. The base shows a leaf molded brass section over a lower ebonized platform and 4 brass feet. This piece is in very good original condition, the crutch has been repaired.
